Goldberg could be the latest free agent in the market after the latest WWE PPV
WWE and WCW great Goldberg is now a free agent following his outing at Elimination Chamber 2022.
The legend came into this clash with hopes of winning the Universal title. However, he was choked out by Reigns as The Tribal Chief kept hold of the gold.
Goldberg had earlier hinted (h/t Wrestling Inc) that his match against Reigns would be the last one on his WWE contract.
Wrestling Inc further claimed that this was indeed his final match on his contract, and it is to be seen if this is really his last match for the company.
Goldberg has had many runs in the company but it is to be seen what the future holds for the former champion.
Anytime a WWE star is a free agent, they get linked to AEW. Many top names that have been cut from WWE have ended up on Tony Khan’s show, and Goldberg could be one such name that will have rumours circling around him.
From a business sense, it would not be bad to have Goldberg on AEW, possibly for merchandise. However, it wouldn’t really make a lot of wrestling sense for him to come on AEW.
WWE does short feuds or has done short feuds in his latest runs in WWE. AEW seems to be building something big and the former WWE star appearing on it wouldn’t lead to too many proper rivalries.
Instead, he could just feature on WWE after a few months once a new deal is finalised. Goldberg has openly stated that he would be willing to speak to WWE should they offer him more matches.
If this really was his last wrestling match, then Goldberg has had quite a career. It would be impossible for someone to match his streak and there is no doubt he will go down as a legend.
