Darren Watkins Jr aka IShowSpeed is an American Youtuber, social media personality and gamer. He currently has 10.8 million subscribers on YouTube. Speed created his very first YouTube channel when he was in school around March 2016. 

The channel was active for two years until Speed uploaded its first video which was an NBA 2K18 shoot-around clip. The same year owing to the popularity of Fortnite, Speed tried his hand at the game and tried doing a live stream which found little success.

His YouTube career started with a slow start which made him decide of putting a hold on YouTube and focus on school and playing football for the next couple of years. However, during the pandemic, one of Speed’s friends encouraged him to give it another try. 

In early 2020 IShowSpeed started uploading a bunch of NBA 2K streams and this time his channel took off. By the middle of June 2020, he was averaging around 150 subscribers weekly and in no time he was up to 1000 new subscribers a week. 

By the next year, his channel grew even further and IShowSpeed reached 100k subscribers and became an internet sensation. n less than a year, Speed amassed over 1 million subscribers in June 2021 making him one of the fastest-growing YouTubers in the world.

He became even more popular following his virality on social media apps like TikTok where his fanbase started uploading snippets of his live streams which became viral in their own right. He also released his debut album called ‘What Else Ishow Speed’. He gained more recognition after he moved to LA with popular Twitch streamer Adin Ross.

IShowwas born on 19 June 2004 in Ohio, U.S. There is not much information revealed about his parents or his siblings as well.

Darren is quite personal in his personal life. He was previously dating a girl named Harmony Renee but that relationship didn’t last long. According to some reports, he is also a father of a daughter but he hasn’t disclosed her name to the media. 

Recently IShowSpeed appeared to be handcuffed and detained during his August 8 stream. A group of Cincinnati police officers surrounded the content creator outside a building after an unidentified person falsely reported him as a threat.

He has been swatted as law enforcement surrounds him. swatting refers to the criminal harassment tactic of deceiving an emergency service into sending a police or emergency service response team to another person’s address. Such acts often occur when people send in false reports of serious illegal offenses like bomb threats, murders, hostage situations, etc.

In a recent viral video show the YouTuber appeared confused and said in disbelief:
