Islam Makhachev (bloody elbow)

Islam Makhachev was amongst a list of fighters who were offered the fight last minute. White even went on to claim that he was quite sure that the fight between Makhacev and Dos Anjos had taken shape, however the Dagestani declined the opportunity.

“Pretty close – I thought we had it done,” White told Barstool Sports. “When I went to bed one of the nights, I thought it was done. Woke up the next morning and found out they turned it down. No clue why.”

Responding to this clip, Makhachev hilariously responded , “Dana, you went to bed to early, you gotta stay up late to get things done 😂😂😂”

Dariush responds by saying,“ I really want to see this fight too. I was so stoked, that thank God we will get this fight. I mean I feel bad for Islam, sure he won’t be happy about this, but this is the ideal situation for him, to get this fight rebooked. I’m trying to put myself in his shoes, but hey I am just going to play my part.”

It is albeit clear now that Makhachev might not get an immediate title shot, and he will need to go through the initial challenge of Beneil Dariush slated for UFC 49 Vegas.
