Liverpool finished the week at the top of the Premier League standings with a 3-1 humbling of Manchester United after the Reds had been overtaken by Manchester City following their 3-1 victory over Everton on Saturday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have enjoyed their best ever start to a top-flight season and the Reds are currently the only team in the Premier League to remain unbeaten. Going by how things have shaped up so far, it would be fair to say that the fans are set to witness a two-way battle between Liverpool and defending champions Manchester City for the Premier League crown.
Jurgen Klopp was the highest spending manager in the Premier League in the summer and splashed the cash to bring in the likes of Naby Keita, Alisson, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri. All his signings have hit the ground running and Liverpool have a formidable squad to challenge for the title.
However, the Reds should look to offload some of their fringe players in January to raise some valuable funds. Here are 2 players that they should offload:-
The Spaniard has lost his place in the side to Andrew Robertson and his involvement has been limited to only 2 appearances in the Premier League this season. He couldn’t have expected any better after being nutmegged by Eden Hazard in Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat in the Carabao Cup.
The 26-year-old has evoked widespread criticism for his lack of lack of awareness and positional sense in his earlier days at Anfield. And he has shown little improvement in that regard.
Having established himself as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, Andrew Robertson is likely to be Klopp’s first-choice left-back for the foreseeable future and Moreno is going to have a tough time at Anfield.
Hence, a move away from Merseyside would be a win-win situation for both parties involved and Liverpool should not hesitate to offload him in January.
Despite his derby heroics in Liverpool’s 1-0 win over rivals Everton, the Belgian continues to be on the fringes of Liverpool’s first-team as the third-choice striker behind the likes of Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge.
Origi made his first appearance for the Reds after a gap of 17 months when he came off the bench as a late substitute in Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League. The 23-year-old has played only 72 minutes of football in the Premier League this season and a move away from Anfield will help him resurrect his career which has come to a standstill.
