According to a report from the Daily Mail, Leicester City and Arsenal are locked in a battle to sign exciting Valencia teenager Ferran Torres.
The speedy winger, 19, is one of the most promising prospects in La Liga and shone as Valencia finished fourth in the table after a miserable start to the 2018/19 campaign, whilst reaching the Europa League semi-finals.
Torres, one of Valencia’s outstanding performers this campaign, is also watched by the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid. Valencia will definitely look to keep hold of the winger but could be tempted to sell if any club comes up with an offer of around £25m, adds the report.
Keeping everything in mind, Leicester City must beat Arsenal to Torres’ signature.
Brendan Rodgers has given Leicester City an identity since replacing Claude Puel in February. The Foxes finished ninth in the table and already have a promising squad that is capable of doing bigger and better things next campaign. With the likes of James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, Demarai Gray and Jamie Vardy lining up attack, there is a sense of excitement to their forward play.
To make the Foxes’ attack a formidable unit and break into the top six next term, Rodgers needs to sign few players over the summer. One of them has to be Ferran Torres, whose talent could be best nurtured at the King Power Stadium.
Vardy is Leicester’s chief goalscorer and while his goalscoring rate certainly hasn’t slowed down, the amount of service he’s been receiving hasn’t been great and a player like Torres could be of huge help next season.
Torres is burgeoning talent, who has just finished a solid campaign with Valencia in the La Liga. A 19-year-old right winger who can also play on the left, the Spaniard possesses the pace and technical abilities to glide past a defender. He is lively, exciting and is a kind of talent that would likely get the Leicester fans off their seats.
Despite being just 19, Torres’ movement, sharpness and ability on the ball is commendable. He has shown immense maturity off the ball, making him such a thrilling player to watch. Truly, the 19-year-old will be a good fit at the King Power Stadium and has the qualities required to flourish in the top flight of English football.
Considering that he’s still only 19 and has a long way to go before becoming the real superstar, a move to Leicester could turn out to be ideal for Torres’s future.
