Three ideal Premier League destinations for Daniel Sturridge this summer

Liverpool enjoyed a brilliant campaign last season as the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane ripped defences apart. However, amidst all the glitz and glamour, most fans and critics seemed to forget about Daniel Sturridge.

No Liverpool fan can forget the swashbuckling forward’s lethal performances alongside Luis Suarez. Back then, the Reds were enjoying a golden run of sorts and Sturridge was certainly their golden boy.

As is the case with most promising youngsters, Sturridge eventually fell prey to numerous injuries which affected his form on the field. And now, he is an almost forgotten figure at Anfield. At 28 years of age, Sturridge merely made 5 starts in the Premier League last season. But his brilliance and skills are evident from the fact that he scored 4 goals and 3 assists despite spending limited time on the field.

He was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion in January but the player hardly made an impact as the Baggies got relegated. However, that does not undermine his talent and with that in mind, here are 3 ideal Premier League destinations for the powerful forward.

Crystal Palace

Manager Roy Hodgson and Sturridge have worked together before while on England duty, making it a plausible move. With Alexander Sorloth in the mix, having a player like Sturridge will surely boost the Eagles’ chances next season. The boss could play them together in a two-striker formation, allowing Wilfried Zaha to move back to the midfield. In addition to that, he could also choose to alternate between the two, thus keeping them fresh for most games.

Southampton

Charlie Austin was decent for the Saints last season but the club barely escaped relegation at the end of the season. Ahead of the new term, they cannot afford to make the same mistakes. New manager Mark Hughes must fix their goalscoring woes and in his quest of doing so, a player like Sturridge will prove to be fruitful. Shane Long struggled to a great extent while Manolo Gabbiadini failed to maintain momentum. Hence, signing the Liverpool attacker will boost the club’s fortunes.

Fulham

Fulham are in an exciting transition phase under Slavisa Jokanovic right now. Since securing promotion to the top-flight, the Cottagers wrapped up an exciting double swoop for Maxime Le Marchand and Jean Michael Seri. Signing the former OGC Nice players was a major statement of intent from the club but if they manage to bring Sturridge to the fore as well, it would be tough to beat the Londoners next season.
