No.10 seed Barbora Krejcikova will face the challenge of Danka Kovinic in the second round of the Italian Open
Barbora Krejcikova has been in decent form and has already won one WTA singles title this season – the Dubai Tennis Championships. The Czech star is seeded tenth at the Italian Open but hasn’t been in the best form of late. She received a bye in her first round due to her superior ranking and will be raring to go against Kovinic in the Round of 64.
Krejcikova is coming into this tournament at the back of a Round of 16 exit from the Madrid Open. She is one of the favourites to clinch the title in Italy if she can play her best game. However, she can certainly not take her opponents lightly and there is no room for complacency.
Danka Kovinic’s form coming into the match
Danka Kovinic pulled off a thrilling 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory against Lucia Bronzetti in the opening round of the Italian Open. The Montenegro player is a regular on the ITF circuit and doesn’t have any noteworthy performance at WTA events so far this year.
She lost against Krejcikova in the second round of the Madrid Open last and it is important that she brushes off the memories of that loss before taking on the same opponent at the Italian Open.

Head-to-head and Predictions
Krejcikova and Kovinic have played each other once before on the WTA tour. The sole encounter was played last month at the Madrid Open with Krejcikova emerging victorious in three sets and thereby leads 1-0 on head to head. On paper, Krejcikova is the favourite both in terms of form and rankings. However, one can certainly not rule out Kovinic and she is expected to put up a tough fight. Despite that, we are predicting a comfortable win for Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets.
