British star Cameron Norrie will face the challenge of Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics in the third round of the Italian Open
Fucsovics has been in very good touch at the Italian Open. The Hungarian ace is yet to drop a set so far in Rome. He began his campaign with a convincing 6-4, 6-2 victory against Filip Krajinovic. In the second round, he pulled off a major upset against No.17 seed Alex de Minaur.
Fucsovics has had an underwhelming year so far but his performances in Rome have been really impressive. It remains to be seen if he can prolong his good run in the tournament.
Norrie had begun the year in an incredible fashion by finishing runners-up at the Argentina Open and then winning the Rio Open but his form has faded off recently.
The British star has come to Rome at the back of early exits in his recent few tournaments – the Madrid Open, the Barcelona Open, the Monte Carlo Masters and the Miami Open. He will look to turn things around in Rome and he has made a decent start to the Italian Open by beating Alexandre Muller in the opening round.
As the No.13 seed, Norrie received a ‘Bye’ in the Round of 128 and has played only one match so far in the tournament. Despite form not being on his side, Norrie has the experience and skills to beat any opponent on his day and he will certainly look to go deep into the tournament. He faces a tricky challenge in the form of Marton Fucsovics but if the Brit plays at his best, it could potentially be a cakewalk for him.
Date – Sunday, 14th May
Court Type – Clay outdoor surface
Telecast – Tennis Channel
Start Time – To be Announced

Match details – Round of 32 match
Fucsovics and Norrie have played each other four times before on the ATP Tour. Both players know each other’s game pretty well. Norrie has got the clear upper hand and leads 4-0 on head to head. On paper, the British star is the outright favourite going into this match both in terms of form and rankings. It will be an uphill task for the Hungarian in this encounter and we’re predicting a comfortable win in straight sets for Cameron Norrie.
