Corey Jae Crowder (born July 6, 1990) is an American professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association’s Phoenix Suns (NBA).

Crowder committed to South Georgia Technical College and later Howard College, where he led the team to an NJCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship in his sophomore season despite not being heavily recruited out of high school.

He became eligible for the 2012 NBA Draft after his senior year ended. The Cleveland Cavaliers selected him with the 34th overall pick, and he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks on draft night.

On July 6, 1990, basketball player Corey Crowder and Helen Thompson gave birth to Jae Crowder in Villa Rica, Georgia. Crowder started at point guard and quarterback for Villa Rica High School’s football and basketball teams, respectively. While on summer vacation in Florida, Crowder trained and worked out with his father, a professional basketball player with two years of NBA experience who was then playing in Europe.

Crowder entered the 2012 NBA Draft after finishing his college career, expecting to be selected in the second round. Crowder was the 34th overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers, but a draught night trade with the Mavericks sent him to Dallas along with the 24th and 33rd picks in the draught, Janningham and Bernard James, in exchange for the 17th and Kelenna Azubuike.

Crowder set a career high with 18 points against the Los Angeles Lakers on November 5, 2013. Crowder was assigned to the NBA Development League’s Texas Legends on February 27, 2014. On February 28, the Mavericks recalled him, reassigned on March 1, and recalled again on March 2.
