Khabib Nurmagomedov’s coach, Javier Mendez, shared his prediction for Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier

Many top names in the MMA world are sharing the prediction for Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier.

Poirier vs McGregor is a rematch from their clash a few years back and it was the Irishman who came out on top.

This is a different clash with a lot riding on it. Many believe the winner will get a crack at the UFC Lightweight title and Mendez was also asked for his prediction.

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s coach has been in the fight game for a long time and even though there is a huge rivalry with McGregor, he believed the Irishman had the weapons to win this battle:

“I favour Conor because he is the better precision striker and taking Conor to the ground is going to be no easy task for Dustin.

“Dustin is going to grit it out, get inside and grind it out if he is able to.”

Not ruling Poirier out in his prediction

Poirier, for his part, is coming off a great win over Dan Hooker and The Diamond looked great in that win.

McGregor defeated Donald Cerrone in his UFC return and Mendez wasn’t going to rule out The Diamond in this battle either:

“Anything’s possible, they are both world class athletes but I definitely favour Conor because of the striking aspect.

“He is a master striker in the Lightweight division, so I favour Conor but I am not counting Dustin out by any means.”

This is a huge fight and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top. Khabib’s UFC return isn’t a guarantee and the winner of McGregor vs Poirier should be in the title scene.

Mendez also claimed that Poirier was one of the right men to battle for the Lightweight title but he named a few others who could be the rival to The Diamond.

Poirier vs McGregor has all the ingredients of being a battle for the ages and hopefully, the fight doesn’t get postponed or called off for whatever reason.
