Jermaine Lee O’Neal a.k.a Jermaine O’Neal was the 1996, Round 1, 17th overall draft pick by the Portland Trail Blazers. O’Neal played in the position of Center / Power forward and he is also the 2002 NBA Most Improved Player.
Notably, O’Neal did not play college basketball. He directly entered the NBA after graduating high school.
In the 1996 NBA Draft, O’Neal was selected seventeenth overall by the Portland Trail Blazers. O’Neal played for the Blazers from 1996 to 2000. During his time with the Blazers, O’Neal went to the NBA Playoffs several times but could not win any championship.
In 2000, O’Neal was traded to the Indiana Pacers. O’Neal played for the Pacers from 2000 to 2008. During his time with the Pacers, O’Neal had his best career performance, especially in the 2004-05 season, where O’Neal averaged 24.3 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game in 34.8 minutes. Also, with the Pacers, O’Neal went to the NBA Playoffs several times but could not win any championship.
In 2008, O’Neal was traded to the Toronto Raptors. He played 41 games as a Raptor, averaging 13.5 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game.
Then on February 13, 2009, O’Neal was traded to the Miami Heat. He played for the Miami Heat until the 2009-10 season.
Further, on July 14, 2010, O’Neal signed a two-year deal with the Boston Celtics. But on April 20, 2012, he was waived by the Celtics because of season-ending wrist surgery.
On August 15, 2012, O’Neal signed a one-year contract with the Phoenix Suns. Then on July 23, 2013, O’Neal signed with the Golden State Warriors. Interestingly, this was the last time he played in the NBA.
