Jiri Vanek had a very impressive career in the junior circuit and reached as high as World No. 14 in the junior singles world rankings and World No. 21 in doubles. He reached the semifinals of the French Open in 1995 and the quarterfinals of the Australian Open boys’ singles in 1996.

After turning pro in 1996, Jiri Vanek won 11 Challenger events and on October 2000, he reached a career-high singles ranking of World No. 74.He also competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and reached the second round.
