She went on to defend her belt a staggering five times, before facing Rose Namajunas at UFC 217. Namajunas knocked Joanna out in the very first round, to hand the Pole her first loss, taking the title away from her in the process as well.
In the title rematch against Namajunas, Joanna lost via. unanimous decision. She then beat Tecia Torres and then took on Valentina Shevchenko for the UFC women’s flyweight championship. Joanna lost the fight via. unanimous decision.
She then went on to beat Michelle Waterson before being pegged back in an absolute barn burner against Zhang Weili at UFC 248 in March 2020.
