Joey Logano began his motorsports career quite early, even by professional racing standards. Quarter midget races, which are quite popular among kids in Connecticut, were the launchpad for Logano’s journey. He participated in his first race in 1996—an experience that may not have been enjoyable for a six-year-old, but one that laid the foundation for what would become a highly successful career.

By 1997, at just seven years of age, he had already secured his first title at the Eastern Grand National Championship in the junior stock car division. He went on to win the same title in 1998 and 1999, offering a clear glimpse of the champion he was destined to become.

Joey Logano’s path to NASCAR

After achieving early success in Portland, Logano’s family eventually decided to move to Georgia. The move was a calculated one to pave the way for Logano’s growth in racing. He made his Xfinity Series debut with Joe Gibbs Racing in 2008. He made a magical start in his motorsports career getting a pole position in only his third start at Kentucky Speedway, in the process also becoming the youngest winner at the age of 18 years and 21 days old.  

He soon made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in September 2008 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. His rapid rise from local races to NASCAR within a decade was one of fastest ever witnessed in NASCAR history. He soon became the youngest cup series winner next year after finishing first in Loudon at just over 19 years of age.
