Johnny Gargano almost had a great fall on this week’s WWE NXT
Ridge Holland vs Johnny Gargano started off this week’s NXT in a brilliant match. The clash was for a place in the Ladder Match for the North American title.
However, it could have ended in horrible fashion for Gargano. The former WWE NXT Champion got it right in the end, and here are the hits and misses from this week’s show.
Misses
1) The main event
The main event of the evening was Velveteen Dream vs Finn Balor for a place in the Ladder match.
However, all hell broke loose as the other participants in that match interfered and that helped Dream win in the end.
There was just too much going on in that time and it took away from what should have been a wonderful match between two of the best performers in WWE.
Hits
1) Gargano survives a great fall
As alluded earlier, Gargano was the victim of a horrific-looking botch where he landed on his neck/head.
There was a lot of concern for him after the move and there were genuine fears he had picked up a serious injury.
However, not only was he fine, but he also picked up the win over Holland. Gargano proved how strong he really is by even coming out in the main event and causing a ruckus.
2) McAfee can preach
Pat McAfee vs Adam Cole went up a gear after the former NFL star returned on NXT. This was his first appearance since kicking Cole in the head and he cut a mean promo.
McAfee on the microphone was great to see and if he performs in a similar manner in the ring, we could be in for a brilliant match at TakeOver XXX.
The former NFL star might not have had a lot of training, but he seems capable of getting it right.
3) Gonzalez the X factor
Dakota Kai and Io Shirai will battle for the Women’s title but the X factor could be Raquel Gonzalez.
She came out to destroy Shirai as the champion tried to take on Kai. Gonzalez is the beast to help Kai out and it will be interesting to see how Shirai deals with all this.
The champion is one of the best when it comes to taking on opponents in the ring. However, interference from Gonzalez could take the title out of Shirai’s hands.
