Jorge Masvidal has set his sight on a rematch with former rival Nate Diaz after his grudge match with Colby Covington
Jorge Masvidal is expecting a career resurgence, similar to when he came back after a long break to fight Darren Till. The Miami native is on a two-fight losing streak, and will look to bounce back when he fights his longtime friend turned foe, Colby Covington.
Masvidal is eager to rekindle his rivalry with one of the biggest names in MMA, Nate Diaz should he get past Covington. During a live session on Rumble, ‘Gamebred’ clarified that all love is lost for Diaz, who he once respected immensely.
He stated, “That motherfcker doesn’t want it, man. almost damn near killed him, I beat him an inch within his fcking skinny life. You saw his last fight with Leon. I was like, man, they make that mistake and put this guy in there with me again, you know? He’s not trying to fight.”
Masvial who won their previous fight for the ‘BMF’ belt via doctor stoppage added, “That little fcking broomstick keeps talking,” Masvidal said. “You’re going to have to go at some point, you know. [When] I take Colby [Covington]’s ass out, if I gotta wait for Usman, it could be you that gets this ass whooping, bro… Let’s fcking go, man, I’m gonna break your f*cking face, bro.
Many believe that the fight was prematurely stopped and that Nate Diaz is famously known to get stronger in the later rounds. His fight against Leon Edwards reminded the world of the famed Diaz cardio when he almost knocked out Edwards in the fifth round after being battered for the remainder of the fight.
“I’m going to leave him in critical condition” – Jorge Masvidal sends out a chilling warning to Colby Covington
At UFC 272, Jorge Masvidal will stand across the cage against old American Top Team teammate/ best friend and former interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington.
The estrange stemmed out of personal ambitions intervening, and the animosity has grown so much that the UFC 272 is building up to be one of the best PPVs without a title fight on the card.
Speaking to MMA Junkie, Masvidal sent out a blood-curdling message making his objective with Covington at UFC 272 loud and clear. He also gave a brief on the origin of their rivalry.
Masvidal vows to leave his opponent in “critical condition” when it’s all said and done at UFC 272.
“I’m hoping that the referee, on the way to pulling me off of him, slips on a banana peel and I get some extra shots in and really change his life and his face structure,” Masvidal said.
