Jose Canseco MLB Career
Canseco was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 1982 MLB draft as their 15th round pick. He played in the minor leagues in his first three years and was later called up to the Athletics’ MLB squad in 1985. Canseco was named the Minor league player of the year in 1985 and received a late season call up for the Athletics.
Canseco made his MLB debut on September 2nd 1985 against the Baltimore Orioles. Four years later he helped the Athletics to win their first MLB World series championship since 1974. In 1992, Canseco was traded to the Texan Rangers where he spent 3 years. Canseco was not quite influential with the Rangers and moved to the Boston Red Sox in 1995. His reign at the Red Sox was also short lived as he stayed there for only 2 seasons.
In 1997, he returned to the team he was most successful with. Canseco joined the Athletics yet again but for only one season. His final four seasons saw be on the move regularly. Canseco played Tampa Bay Devil rays in 2000 and won his second MLB world series. He was again on the move and finally ended his career at the Chicago White Sox in 2001.
