Predicted Tottenham XI to face Arsenal in the Premier League
After seeing any title hopes surely extinguished by successive league defeats, Tottenham have no time to be disappointed as they host Arsenal in the north London derby at Wembley on Saturday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men remain in the driving seat to finish in the top four despite consecutive defeats against Burnley and Chelsea. But a defeat in the north London derby could spell danger and Pochettino will surely look to avoid it.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have picked up form at a crucial stage, winning five of their last six Premier League games and will head to the Wembley high on confidence.
Team News
Dele Alli continues to be out with a hamstring injury while Eric Dier has been suffering from tonsillitis.
Jan Vertonghen missed the Chelsea game with a minor hip problem but could return back to the squad on Saturday.
Probable Tottenham XI
Formation: 3-4-1-2
Manager: Mauricio Pochettino
Hugo Lloris (GK)
Lloris had had an error-strewn 2018/19 campaign, yet he continues to be the team’s no.1.
Toby Alderweireld (RCB)
Regarded as one of the best defenders in the Premier League, Alderweireld will start on the right of a three-man backline for Tottenham.
Davinson Sanchez (CB)
The Colombian has been a regular starter as a part of the back three. That is expected to continue against Arsenal.
Jan Vertonghen (LCB)
Vertonghen is likely to be fit to face the Gunners and what a big boost that’ll be for the team. The Belgian is a top defender and will look to help Tottenham earn the bragging rights on Saturday.
Kieran Trippier (RWB)
Trippier had an awful game against Chelsea but Pochettino is likely to stick with the Englishman on Saturday.
Ben Davies (LWB)
It’ll be a tough call for Pochettino with whom to go at left wing-back but the Spurs manager could stick with Davies at the weekend.
Moussa Sissoko (CM)
The Frenchman isn’t a world beater but does the job effectively in the midfield. His presence is vital if Spurs are to win the game against Arsenal.
Harry Winks (CM)
Winks has grown leaps and bounds under Pochettino this term and will be looking to keep his place in the team.
Christian Eriksen (CAM)
The Dane is Spurs’ biggest creative outlet and will have to be at his best to hurt the Gunners at the Wembley.
Son Heung-Min (LS)
The South Korean has been in red-hot form and is a certain starter in the north London derby.
