Katie Boulter Early Days and Personal Life

Katie Boulter was born on 1 August 1996, in Leicester, United Kingdom. Her mother played tennis at the county level and also represented Great Britain on a few occasions. Katie started playing tennis at the age of five. Like a lot of tennis stars, Katie practiced with her older brother at a local court near their house.

She played the piano before tennis became her first love. Boulter also has a keen interest in fashion and made an appearance in Vogue magazine in 2018. She is a fan of the 2015-16 Premier League Champions – Leicester City Football Club.

At the age of 11, Boulter won the Lemon Bowl in Rome. Three years later, she would become the runner-up in the Junior Orange Bowl Tennis Championships in Coral Gables, Florida. Another feather was added to her cap as she won the Aegon Junior Player Award that month.

Katie Boulter turned pro in 2013 and won her first senior doubles title at a $10k event in Sharm El Sheikh in November 2013.

Next year, she progressed to the Australian Open girls’ doubles event with Ivana Jorovic. In May 2014, Boulter bagged her first singles title when she defeated compatriot Eden Silva in the finals in Sharm El Sheikh. The joy was doubled at the event as she won the doubles title as well alongside Nina Stojanovic.

She received a wildcard for Wimbledon qualifying in 2014 but lost in the first round to Alberta Brianti in a pulsating match.

Boulter had a great 2018. That year, she won her first $25k singles title at the event in Obidos, Portugal in April. Next month, she won a singles title at the $60k event in Fukuoka, Japan. She failed to progress from the first round in the French Open qualifiers but managed to reach the quarter-final stage of a WTA event for the first time at the Nottingham Open.

She received a wildcard for the main-draw of Wimbledon and managed to progress to the second round before being ousted by Naomi Osaka.
