Kayla Harrison was born in Middletown, Ohio to parents Kenny Harrison Jr. and Jeannie Yazell. She took up judo at a very young age of 6, since her mother was a black belt in the sport.
Harrison went on to become one of the greatest American judokas in the country’s history as she won gold medals at back to back Olympic games (2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics).

Kayla Harrison made her MMA debut when she was 27 years old. She took on Brittney Elkin at PFL 2 (2018). Harrison won her first fight via. submission in the very first round.
Harrison then finished her next two opponents at PFL 6 and PFL 11 respectively, in that same year.
At PFL 1 (2019), Harrison beat Larissa Pacheco via. unanimous decision to bring up her fourth straight victory.
Harrison beat Morgan Frier at PFL 4 and followed it up with a victory against Bobbi Jo Dalziel at PFL 7 in the PFL Women’s lightweight semi-final.
She then faced Pacheco once again in a rematch, this time for the women’s lightweight title, at PFL 10. Harrison once again won via. unanimous decision, and eventually the lightweight title.
Harrison then tried her hand at Invicta Fighting Championship. She took on Courtney King in a featherweight bout, and emerged victorious via. TKO.
At PFL 6, Harrison beat Cindy Dandois via. first round submission to move to the 2021 Women’s lightweight semifinal.
She faced Genah Fabian at PFL 8 and beat her via. TKO in the first round. And finally, at PFL 10, Harrison beat Taylor Guardado to win the 2021 Women’s lightweight tournament.

Kayla Harrison was born to Kenny Harrison Jr. and Jeannie Yazell. Harrison’s mother Yazell was a blackbelt in Judo. Hence she took up Judo at a very young age and became one of the most successful Judokas in the country.
