Home » NBA » “KD should’ve said the same thing”, “It’s head to head with Curry” – DeMar DeRozan’s rejecting move to Golden State Warrios leads to heated debate

If Warriors legend Draymond Green had his way, DeMar DeRozan might have won a championship this season.

Bulls star DeRozan was without a team during the summer of 2021, and Green attempted to sign the five-time All-Star. Green and DeRozan are excellent friends, and Green claims he moved from checking in on DeRozan regularly to trying to recruit him to the Dubs.

“The discussion came to ‘Come to the Warriors,’ and you were like, ‘F—, no. I’m not heading there. I’m not coming to play with you all,'” Green stated on his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show,” in an interview with DeRozan.

Green stated, “If you come to the Warriors, we can win a championship.”

Of course, he had to throw one more punch: “We won the title despite his absence. I just wanted to toss something out there.”

Instead, DeRozan agreed to terms with the Bulls on a three-year, $82 million contract. He was coming off three seasons with the Spurs, averaging 21.2 points per game. Nonetheless, there remained speculation that DeRozan had passed his prime.

DeRozan said that the uncertainty of free agency and the storylines around his game impacted him.

“I began to wonder, ‘Where am I heading now?’ What kind of player am I going to be?’ “He informed Green. “Big names often sign on free agency’s first or second day or two. I entered free agency with so many unknowns. Was I going to move elsewhere on a one-year contract and take the bare minimum?”

DeMar DeRozan was paid well last summer, but will his good pal Draymond Green also get compensated? Green is eligible to sign a $162 million deal early next month. However, the Warriors are not interested in paying him that much money.
