Earlier on Friday, it was revealed that UFC middleweight Kelvin Gastelum won’t be a part of the UFC 273 main card due to an injury he sustained. Gastelum was on course to fight against Dricus du Plessis next weekend.
The UFC 273 event next weekend will go ahead without Kelvin Gastelum. The 30-year-old pulled out of his fight against Dricus du Plessis due to an undisclosed injury.
On Friday, the UFC announced Gastelum’s withdrawal, which has left Du Plessis without an opponent for UFC 273. Gastelum, a former interim middleweight title contender, had initially been tipped to face Nassourdine Imavov at the event, but due to visa issues, the Frenchman was unable to compete as scheduled.
Gastelum, however, wanted to fight at the event and Du Plessis was reshuffled from his original fight against Anthony Hernandez that was scheduled to take place on the same card. However, the fight between Kelvin Gastelum and Du Plessis will not be taking place due to an injury to the American fighter.
UFC 273 will take place at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida on April 9th. The main event of the night will feature reigning featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski against Chan Sung Jung, a.k.a. the Korean Zombie.
The co-main event will see UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling taking on former champion Petr Yan. Here’s a look at the full list of fights taking place at UFC 273:
