Brown averaged 17.6 points as a sophomore at East Ridge High School in Woodbury, Minnesota, and led the team to its first state tournament appearance. He transferred to Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas, after the season.
One of the top small forwards in the 2021 class, Brown was a five-star prospect. He turned down offers to play college basketball from Kansas, Arizona, and other schools on July 20, 2020, in favor of Baylor. The highest-ranked recruit for Baylor since Isaiah Austin in 2012 is Brown. He attended a Christian high school, so he appreciated Baylor was a Christian university.
Prior to his freshman year, Brown was named the Big 12 Conference’s Preseason Freshman of the Year. Brown made his college debut against Incarnate Word, scoring 13 points in an 87-60 victory. Twice (12/20 and 3/7), he received the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honour. As a rookie, Brown scored 9.7 points and grabbed 4.9 rebounds per game. At the conclusion of the campaign, he was selected to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team. On March 30, 2022, Brown decided to forgo his remaining college eligibility and enter the 2022 NBA Draft.
The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Brown with the 48th overall pick. The Timberwolves traded his draught rights to the Indiana Pacers on June 23, 2022, in exchange for cash considerations and a 2026 second round pick.
He signed a two-way contract with the Pacers on September 16, 2022.
