Kendrick Perkins has never shied away from pouring love on his former teammate LeBron James ever since he stepped into the basketball world as an analyst. The 2008 NBA Champion recently revealed why the Los Angeles Lakers could be punishing the 38-year-old Power Forward in the 2022-23 season.

Perkins elaborated on how LeBron James was pivotal in landing Russell Westbrook to the LA Lakers last season, and how persistent he was in keeping Brodie in the side even when things were going haywire with Frank Vogel in charge.

“It almost feels like, in my opinion, that Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss is punishing LeBron James for the Russell Westbrook trade,” Perkins said. “Meaning, ‘you played a huge part in getting Russell Westbrook here. And we know we have these two draft picks, and we’re not going to trade ’em because you wanted him. You wanted him ‘Bron. So now you have to deal with it.’”

This has come when LeBron James has continuously dropped hints about how he wants to contest for another championship and has indicated Jeanie Buss to improve the Lakers’ voids by making trades yet there have been no moves made. The Purple and Gold are aiming to reach the play-in games at the very least. Missing the NBA Playoffs in back-to-back seasons with LeBron James on the roster would be unacceptable and could lead to a trade request from King James.

That being said, their next game is against Memphis Grizzlies at home. Let us if Darvin Ham will be able to secure his team’s another streak of winning games this time around.
