Kevin Costner's Wife files for divorce
Following the release of his Yellowstone drama, Kevin Costner’s personal life is falling apart. According to records obtained by RadarOnline.com, his wife, Christine Baumgartner, filed for divorce on Monday, ending their nearly 20-year marriage.
Three young children, ages 12, 14, and 15, are shared by Costner and Christine. We now know that in his statement from Tuesday, the actor requested joint custody of the children.
Their breakup, according to Christine, was caused by “irreconcilable differences”. In a statement to TMZ, Kevin Costner’s representative confirmed the divorce rumors, saying, “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.“
The representative for the Hollywood celebrity requested discretion for Kevin Costner’s soon-to-be ex-wife and their children “as they navigate this difficult time.”
The timing of the divorce is fascinating given that Costner’s role in Yellowstone is still up in the air and that RadarOnline.com exclusively revealed that Christine had given him the ultimatum: get off the horse for good, or ride off into the sunset.
According to sources, Christine had grown weary of Costner spending months away from the kids while he filmed the popular Paramount series in Montana, and her tolerance had worn thin. An acquaintance at the time said, “It’s really knocked a hole in their family life.”
For his iconic performances in films like Dances with Wolves, The Bodyguard, and Bull Durham, Kevin Costner is best known. Additionally, he has experienced tremendous success thanks to his recent appearance in the popular TV show Yellowstone, for which he has been nominated for both an Emmy and a Golden Globe.
Costner previously wed Cindy Costner from 1978 to 1994; this is their second union. His prior relationships have produced four grown offspring for him.
