Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving scored 35+ points each in a historical game for the Brooklyn Nets despite ending up on the losing side against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Brooklyn Nets and the Memphis Grizzlies went up against each other in the Eastern Conference, as the teams featured two deadly duos squaring up. While the Nets possess the pair of former NBA champions Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the Grizzlies boast of Ja Morant and Desmond Bane – and the battle ended up in the history books.
The Grizzlies were led to victory by the pair of Morant and Bane who scored a whopping 38 points each, and despite the best efforts of Durant and Irving who scored 37 points each – the Nets fell only 10 points short as they succumbed to their second defeat of the season. However, the game would go down in the history books because of a very unique feat by both teams.
While the Grizzlies came out on top 134-124 against the Nets in a very well-contested game at the FedExForum in Memphis, it was a historical outing because of a very unique feat achieved by both teams – one that has not been seen in the NBA for a number of decades.
It was the first time since 1983 that both teams in an NBA game had more than one player from both teams scoring 35+ points in the same game.
While the game was an incredible contest that went right down to the very wire, the Grizzlies took the spoils at the end of it – however, Durant and Irving despite ending up on the losing side were given a place in the history books alongside Morant and Bane.
It was the first NBA game since 1983 where each team had multiple 35+ point scorers – a truly unique occasion. Regardless of having been a part of the NBA history books for their defeat, the Nets will hope to turn their fortunes around when they go up against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night.
