Andre the Giant to Alligators – 10 crazy things shorter than Kevin Durant’s wingspan

Published by

The tall and lanky Kevin Durant has a massive wingspan much much higher than the average NBA wingspan

Brooklyn Nets’ Small Forward Kevin Durant is not your average NBA player. The Washington-based star is 2.08m tall (height) and has feet and hands like nobody else.

Even more amusing is his huge wingspan, which is 17cms more than his height. With a wingspan of 2.25m, Durant is almost impossible to guard.

Only a few players in the history of the sport have a wingspan longer than KD, and they are probably those who are taller than him – Shaquille O’Neal, Wilt Chamberlain, and Yao Ming, to name a few.

For an average man, the wingspan exceeds his height by just over 5cms, but in Durant’s case, it is a mindblowing 17cms.

Stunning as it might sound, here are 10 crazy things shorter than Durant’s wingspan:

1. Mercedes G-Wagon

The Mercedes G-Wagon, which resembles a lite-version of Hummer is much shorter in width compared to KD’s wingspan.

Measuring 1.93m in width, the G-Wagon is shorter than the Nets’ star by more than a foot – a staggering 32cms. Looks like even the beast from Merc might find it difficult to guard Durant.

2. Chinese Alligators

Chinese Alligators, also known as the Yangtze Alligators are endemic to China. Long as they usually are, the adults grow up to 2.1m in length, meaning they fall short of Durant’s wingspan by at least 15cms.

However, it shouldn’t be mistaken for an American Alligator, which is much longer. Who knows, given the physical freak Durant is, he might even outgrow them?

3. King Size Bed

A king-size bed is 2.03m in length, and also has the same width. If Durant stretches out to his entirety the bed wouldn’t be enough. It would be short by at least 22 cms.

And of course, a king-size bed wouldn’t be enough in terms of length as well, given Durant’s height – 2.08m.

4. Taller than Andre the Giant

If Durant’s wingspan was his height, he would be taller than Andre the Giant.

The late pro-wrestler from France towered at 2.24m, meaning he would have been 1cm shorter than Durant’s wingspan.

5. Wider than a pickup truck

Pickup trucks are usually 1.8m in width with the upper ceiling somewhere around 2m. Still, nowhere close to Durant’s incredible wingspan of 2.25m.

Fancy a KD pickup truck?

6. Wingspans of Kawhi Leonard and Giannis Antetokounmpo

Kawhi Leonard is a genetic freak. The man’s hands are almost the size of 7 foot 2 male, and he’s somewhere around 6 foot 7. However, his wingspan is a mind-boggling 2.21m. Nobody in the world would probably stand 6 foot 7 inches tall and have a 7-foot 3-inch wingspan.

Despite a 2.21m wingspan, he is 4cms short of KD’s 2.25.

Same goes with NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. Despite being an inch taller than Durant in height, Gianni’s wingspan falls 4cms short of the Nets’ star’s wingspan.

7. A Lion

Durant’s wingspan is longer than the king of the jungle.

Although there have been several instances of Lion’s being much longer than 8 feet, an average lion is 1.8m to 2.1m in length.

8. 6-person dining table

A 6-person dining table wouldn’t be enough to contain Durant’s wingspan.

It is around 2m in length and falls short of KD’s wingspan by at least a foot.

9. Green Iguana

Green Iguanas are much shorter than Durant’s wingspan. However, there have been instances of the big lizards reaching up to 2m in length.

It still makes them several centimetres short of KD.

10. Average Wardrobe

An average wardrobe is no more than 2m in length, and Durant wouldn’t be able to stretch his entire hands to completion if he is locked in.
