KPJ wished to join Rainier Beach High school, as his father played sports at Rainier. He wished to follow the tradition of his family. During his senior year, he averaged 27 points with 14 rebounds and five assists. He was awarded the Washington Mr Basketball after the end of the season.
Kevin wished to pursue his college basketball career for USC. He made his debut for USC on November 2018. Several injuries during his initial seasons made him sit on the bench for a long time. He played the last three matches of his freshman season and averaged 9.8 points with four rebounds and 1.4 assists. At the end of his freshman year, he declared to enter the 2019 NBA draft.
He was picked 30th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2019 NBA draft. After a few days of his draft, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers by the Bucks. KPJ made his NBA debut on October 2019 against the Orlando Magic, but he ended up on the losing side. On November 2019, KPJ started for the Cavaliers for the first time and he scored career-high 18 points in that game.
