Here is everything you need to know about Kingdom Hearts 4. Fans are excited to dive back into their favorite franchise!

Kingdom Hearts 4 is now in development, according to Square Enix, who confirmed it during the franchise’s 20th anniversary livestream on Sunday. Over the years, Kingdom Hearts has spawned lots of sequels, cementing its status as one of gaming history’s most iconic RPG franchises. With Disney’s magic transporting players to wonderful locations, many fans had speculated whether another sequel will be released after Kingdom Hearts 3 in 2019.

The first Kingdom Hearts game was released in March 2002 for the PlayStation 2. The series, which began as a collab between Square Enix and The Walt Disney Company, is set in an original fictitious world and revolves around our protagonist Sora.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Release Date

Square Enix did not provide a release date in their official press release, so we can only guess. This is “development footage,” according to the video, but we don’t know how far along it is in development. While the gameplay displayed above appears to be excellent, it’s likely that this is only a small portion of what has been worked on so far.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Platforms

Square Enix has not confirmed which platforms Kingdom Hearts 4 will be released on. Although most Kingdom Hearts titles are now accessible on a variety of platforms. Kingdom Hearts 3 was the first major game in the series to be released on both Xbox and PlayStation at the same time. Previously, the main games had only been available as PlayStation or Nintendo exclusives.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Gameplay

There are no full gameplay breakdowns of the new Kingdom Hearts game to enjoy just yet, apart from the short overview of gameplay seen in the 20th-anniversary announcement trailer. The game looks fantastic visually, the size of the areas is enormous, and the boss fight shown in the teaser is simply magnificent.

The trailer features Sora against a huge boss in the city of Quadratum, a large, sprawling area created in a realistic world unlike anything seen in the series before. Sora’s well-known friends Donald and Goofy return, as does Strelitzia, a new unknown character appearing for the first time.

Square Enix also revealed that a different game, Kingdom Hearts Missing Link, is in the works for Android and iOS devices. Adventures in the land of Scala ad Caelum from Kingdom Hearts 3 are included, as are conflicts against the Heartless. Square Enix claims Kingdom Hearts Missing Link will have a new, unique storyline, although it will almost certainly connect into the plot of Kingdom Hearts 4.
