Shamet played three games in his freshman season before having to redshirt the season because of a foot injury. In January 2017, he became the point guard for the Shockers. During his freshman year, he received honors like the MVC Freshman of the Year and First-team MVC All-Conference.
His sophomore season saw Laundry win the Preseason First Team All-AAC. He was one of fifty players that were on the Preseason Wooden Award watch list.
