LASK vs Manchester United prediction: Manchester United line-up
Manchester United travel to Austria as they face LASK in the Europa League last 16 fixture at the Raiffeisen Arena on Thursday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men would be hoping to carry the momentum forward from the little success they have achieved so far. They would be heading into this game on the back of a 2-0 win against rivals Manchester City.
On the other hand, LASK would also be hoping to win the game as they are on a successful run in the Europa League, beating the likes of Sporting Lisbon and PSV Eindhoven earlier in the campaign.
Team News
United will be without star players Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba, who are recovering from injury. Timothy Fosu-Mensah is said to be lacking match fitness and will be absent for this fixture. Third-choice shot-stopper Lee Grant has undergone surgery and will be out of action for a few months.
Predicted Man United XI
Formation: 3-4-1-2
Sergio Romero (GK)
The Argentine is the first-choice shot-stopper in the cup games for United. He is expected to take his place in goal and would be hoping to keep another clean sheet.
Eric Bailly (RCB)
The Ivorian has been in excellent form since his return from injury. He has shown confidence but he should be able to convince the manager for a regular start.
Luke Shaw (CB)
The Englishman has adapted well in a new position and has been one of the standout performers in the team in the last few weeks. He is expected to start in the heart of a three-man defensive line.
Harry Maguire (LCB)
Maguire has led the team brilliantly so far since taking over the armband from Ashley Young. He will be a key figure in guiding the defensive unit and would be an undoubted starter.
Brandon Williams (LWB)
The 19-year-old was not at his best in the last outing but has shown his abilities. He needs to be more precise with his forward runs while joining the team’s attack.
Fred (CM)
The Brazilian has established himself in United’s midfield. He once again put in a magnificent all-round midfield performance against Man City. He will be the key link between the team’s attack and defence.
Nemanja Matic (CM)
After sitting out for the majority of the season, Matic has once again proved his worth. He has been on top of his game in the last few weeks and is expected to start ahead of Scott McTominay.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RWB)
The Englishman will be key in stopping LASK’s attack on the right flank. He has also improved his crossing and will be expected to do better while going forward.
Bruno Fernandes (AM)
The Portuguese playmaker has stolen the limelight with his performances for United, week in and out. He has brought creativity to their attack and will be key in helping the team score the all-important away goal(s) before returning to Old Trafford for the second leg.
Mason Greenwood (ST)
Greenwood should be given a chance ahead of Daniel James in this fixture. He is capable of scoring and if he can get on the scoresheet, it would be massive for United.
