LeBron James has shared a concerning shooting update on the Los Angeles Lakers after they lost their third game in a row against the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Los Angeles Lakers have had a disastrous start to their new NBA season. The Lakers who brought in their fair share of reinforcement in the offseason would have hoped to bounce back in style this season after missing out on the Playoffs last season – but it turns out that they have lost all of their first three games of the regular season and there might be a solid reason why.
One of the Lakers’ most concerning features of their 0-3 start to the season so far other than the obvious lack of teamwork is the lack of efficient and consistent shooting on the roster. Since the start of the season, the Lakers’ shooting has been all over the place particularly when it comes to three-pointers – a major flaw as the joint record winners slumped to a historically bad start.
Though the issues were clear right from the Ring Night loss to the Golden State Warriors, the Lakers practically threw their next two games away from winning positions against the Los Angeles Clippers and the Portland Trail Blazers. All these losses had one common theme – one that Lakers talisman and NBA legend LeBron James also focused on following the latest loss.
What did LeBron James have to say about the Lakers’ shooting record?
The four-time winner complained about the lack of shooting ability on the roster.
Speaking to the press following their 104-102 loss to the Trail Blazers, LeBron said: “To be completely honest, we’re not a team constructed of great shooting. It’s not like we’re sitting here with a lot of lasers on our team.” LeBron’s complaints were blunt but very true as the Lakers’ hierarchy failed to address their biggest issue during an off-season full of reinforcements.
While surrounding LeBron James with shooters has been a Championship winning formula for a number of years now, the Lakers failed to do so all summer and are now stuck at three consecutive losses with their latest one seeing the Lakers successfully convert only 10 of their total attempted 40 three-pointers – amounting to a 21.7% three-pointer shooting percentage.
