It was a very sad day for the hip-hop community in America as ‘90s rap legend Coolio passed away on Thursday. The 59 year old who rose to mainstream stardom with his hit albums in the ‘90s such as It Takes a Thief, My Soul and Gangsta’s Paradise – even winning a Grammy award for the latter song – was also part of a hip hop collective known as WC and the Maad Circle.

So when Coolio passed away in a friend’s apartment in the early hours of Thursday, the hip hop community in America suffered a massive loss. Many celebrities came out to pen a message or two as a tribute to the late rapper, a star-studded list that included the likes of Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, “Weird Al” Yankovic, LL Cool J, MC Hammer, Denzel Curry and LeBron James.

One of them was none other the former professional basketball superstar Jamal Crawford – who penned an emotional tribute to the late rapper and his incredible career. The former NBA star who turned out for nine franchises in his nomadic career spanning across two decades took to his official Twitter account to post a touching tribute to the Los Angeles born rapper.
