Two players Leicester City must aim to sign in January
Four years on, a lot has changed for Leicester City since that incredible title-winning season. A class act from one of the unknowns like something out of a movie except it actually happened. However, like AS Monaco, their core was picked apart and have aged terribly.
Now four years on and the Foxes need a boost to hit the top six. While they are in a decent position, they need to ensure that they are strong enough to challenge the best of the best. With that in mind, here are two stars who can change their fortunes.
#2 Ryan Fraser
Few players have been as good as Callum Wilson for Bournemouth as Ryan Fraser has been. Tiny, rapid and intelligent, the Scotsman has everything to make it as a winger and he has taken things to another level this season. Embracing a free role, drifting in and across the flanks the 24-year-old has been an absolute menace.
With four goals and 8 assists, Fraser sits behind only Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard for the most assists in the Premier League, so far. In comparison, the closest Leicester City players would be Kelechi Iheanacho and James Madison with 3.
The Foxes have missed Riyad Mahrez and it has shown. While they tried to replace him via Rachid Gehzzal and James Madison, only the former Norwich City man has been successful in adapting to his new side and league. Bringing Ryan Fraser however, especially mid-season would be a great move and the Scotsman would be perfect for Claude Puel’s tactics.
#1 Luka Jovic
On loan at Enitract Frankfurt, the 21-year-old has made history and to put it simply he just can’t stop scoring. In just 15 games in the Bundesliga, Jovic has found the net an incredible 12 times, which includes a record-breaking 5 goal haul against Fortuna Dusseldorf. Not to mention, that in 23 appearances all season, Jovic has scored 17 goals which have only helped his market value and brought the attention of the world on him.
While he is on loan from Benfica, the club have added an option to buy for Frankfurt to activate if they want and given his performances, it’s a matter of when rather than if. However, with Barcelona, Liverpool and Bayern Munich (via Sky Sports) interested, Leicester City may have a tough time convincing him to join. But if they somehow manage to do so, they get a brilliant replacement for Jamie Vardy.
