If reports from reputed Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio are to be believed, Leicester City are looking into the possibility of bringing in prolific youngster Oliver Jurgens.
The 17-year-old is the subject of interest of big clubs like Inter Milan, Leicester City, and Valencia. Despite no senior games to his name, the Estonian has taken Europe by storm in the underage games.
Oliver Jurgens is a 17-year-old Estonian striker who currently plays for Hellas Verona U-17. He started his career with Nomme United’s U-17 team and scored a scarcely believable 49 goals in 19 games. Then he was promoted to the senior side and another 35 goals followed in 25 games (source – Transfermarkt).
Italian side Hellas Verona came calling last year. After making the move to Italy, he was immediately sent on loan to Roma’s U-17 side. There, he made the most of the chances he got and scored 4 goals in 4 outings.
After another impressive campaign that saw Leicester narrowly miss out on Champions League football, the Foxes will be hungry to improve upon that. Jamie Vardy was the top scorer but a lot was left to be desired from the likes of Iheanacho and Ayoze Perez.
Leicester should definitely look to bring on Oliver Jurgens and add him to the U-17 side. This will give him enough time to get acclimatized to the club and can be moved to the first-team next year when he is 18.
His prolific goal-scoring abilities would no doubt be a quality that would appeal to clubs that are looking to bring him in, including Leicester.
Oliver Jurgens is a footballer in demand and Leicester would be wise to approach Hellas Verona for a transfer soon. He is young, has an eye for goal and should make a fine addition to the U-17 side.
In a year’s time, he could become even more deadly if his development continues in the same trajectory. He can then be used sporadically in the first-team which should help ease the pressure on Vardy.
