Mercedes racer and defending F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton reckons he still isn’t in the best shape ahead of the 2020 season.
The 35-year-old has been excellent while racing a Mercedes and has won five world titles with them.
He could tie the legendary Michael Schumacher if he wins a seventh this year and is already working hard for it.
The Brit, as all Formula One racers need to, is trying to get into the best shape possible. Racing an F1 car is tough on the body thanks to the excessive G-forces that are dealt with during a weekend.
An extended calendar and constant travelling allows little time to recharge between races until the mid-season break.
Hamilton recently shared an image of his shredded physique but that came with a warning too.
The Brit claimed that he wasn’t in the best shape last season prior to pre-season training, but that won’t happen this year:
“Last year I arrived into testing with a lot of water weight and around 78kg. This year, I’m at a better weight of 73kg. Still have more fat to burn off and more muscle to add but on the way.”
Many fans reacted hilariously to Hamilton’s suggestion that he needs to burn more fat off, and here are a few tweets.
This is an ominous warning to his rivals, especially as Hamilton was nearly untouchable last time around.
His only real rival was teammate Valtteri Bottas and the Finn finished a distant second in the driver’s standings.
Winning that seventh title would be an incredible achievement given that he would tie Schumacher’s record.
However, Hamilton could achieve more records if he keeps winning races. The 35-year-old already has the most all-time poles and most career points in a season and career points.
The last two records are a little iffy given that F1 changed the scoring system to 25 points for a win from the 10 that they used to give in the past.

Nevertheless, Hamilton could end up becoming the racer with the most F1 driver’s titles, and that would cement his legacy further.
