Liam Lawson, hailing from Hastings, New Zealand, was born on February 11, 2002. His parents are Jared Lawson (father) and Kristy Lawson (mother). He has younger siblings in the form of two sisters – Holly and Jess Lawson. Sharing a special bond, he entered a romantic relationship with Charlotte Miller in early 2019, and the couple commemorated their first year together in January 2020.
Liam’s introduction to go-karts came during his early childhood, courtesy of his father Jared Lawson. During the initial stages of Liam’s racing journey, Jared also served as Oscar’s personal coach. Liam’s mother, Kristy, shared equal enthusiasm and wholeheartedly endorsed her son’s career path. The couple dedicated a significant portion of their savings to support Liam’s aspirations, investing nearly US$ 7 million, according to Jared, in transforming a young New Zealand boy into a prospective Formula 1 sensation.
Liam Lawson attained noteworthy triumphs in both domestic and global contests during his teenage days. His progression led him to the realm of single-seater racing, participating in esteemed championships including the FIA Formula 4 Championship, Toyota Racing Series, and Euroformula Open. Within these events, he showcased remarkable capabilities, clinching numerous wins and securing places on the podium. The exceptional prowess displayed by Lawson drew the interest of the Red Bull Junior Team, an esteemed initiative for nurturing drivers led by Red Bull Racing.
