Liverpool Opinion: Thorgan Hazard signing can raise the quality in midfield

According to a report that has recently arisen from British news outlet Daily Star, Liverpool have submitted a big-money bid to Borussia Monchengladbach with a view of bringing Chelsea star Eden Hazard’s younger brother Thorgan Hazard to Anfield.

It has been claimed that Liverpool, and Jurgen Klopp in specific, have been keeping their tabs on the 26-year-old Belgian, who has slowly developed his career around some excellent overall displays for both his club and country.

A regular starter for Belgium – one of the world’s strongest national teams, Thorgan has various qualities that make him a massive asset to have and that’s probably why it is claimed in the reportthat Borussia Dortmund are also quite keen on the little Belgian.

Dortmund are said to have identified Thorgan as a possible direct replacement for Chelsea-bound Christian Pulisic.

Thorgan Hazard’s career began with the same club as brother Eden and Kylian at AFC Tubize but unlike the supremely-talented Eden Hazard, who made the switch directly to Lille in Ligue 1, Thorgan was forced to find the hard way up as he went on to join 2nd division club Lens.

Fortunately for him, it was in fact because of his brother Eden that he got his first real break. Eden’s move to Chelsea meant that the Blues went after his younger brother soon after and within a month, they had signed Thorgan as well.

After spending a couple of loan spells at Zulte Waregem and Monchengladbach, he was eventually sold to the Bundesliga club in the summer of 2015. Since making the switch, Hazard has really made a name for himself and is now a regular starter for his club while he is always considered for his country as well.

With 9 goals and 11 assists from his 27 Bundesliga outings, Thorgan has shown time and again that he’s more than capable of delivering at the same levels as his brother and this is one of the factors that should make Liverpool go after their man.

Liverpool’s midfield certainly hasn’t been overly strong and the age of players like James Milner have come into question one more then one occasion. Despite all the hard work that Milner does put in, a dynamic, creative and adventurous player like Thorgan Hazard would definitely be a massive upgrade.

His link-up play is one of his biggest strength while he does resemble his older brother in various attributes. Despite being in Eden’s shadow, Thorgan has managed to showcase himself in the limelight and even featured for Belgium at the World Cup, all of which effectively means that Liverpool would be getting an absolute bargain.
