Liverpool should go all out to sign Christian Pulisic in January
According to Liverpool Echo, the Reds are set to revive their interest in Borussia Dortmund’s attacking midfielder Christian Pulisic. Manager Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of the youngster and believes that the American international can add a lot of value to the team in terms of attack. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
Pulisic was one of the players heavily linked with Liverpool after the Reds had failed in their £11 million bid back in 2016. (h/t Telegraph) However, that was even before he had made his debut for the German outfit and he definitely won’t come that cheap now.
After enjoying the best ever start to the Premier League in their history, the Reds haven’t managed to pick up a single win from their last four games. A defeat at the hands of Chelsea in the Carabao Cup was understandable given that Klopp rotated his players but the loss to Napoli in the Champions League revealed that the team lacks a creative midfielder who can spark creativity in the final third just as Philippe Coutinho did in his Liverpool days.
They have obviously made a splendid start to the season and are one of the three teams who are yet to be beaten in the Premier League but the Reds will need that X-factor in the midfield to reduce the pressure on their vicious front three. In fact, the trio of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino haven’t reached the same heights that they did last season and the lack of pedigree can be attributed greatly to the lacklustre form of Mohamed Salah.
As a result, Liverpool haven’t managed to rack up the goals consistently and quite understandably, the manager has decided to reignite his interest in Christian Pulisic.
A versatile creative midfielder, the 20-year-old American has the ability to play as a central attacking midfielder or a winger on either side of the pitch. He combines his low centre of gravity with his wonderful technique to keep good close control and backs himself to beat the defenders with his mesmerizing dribbling skills.
He has a good presence of mind as a playmaker and uses his vision to link up the play and has the ability to unleash that killer pass just at the right moment. Apart from that, he is also a clinical finisher in front of goal.

Pulisic racked up 4 goals and 5 assists in the Bundesliga last season and has continued his good form this year as well. The 20-year-old has already registered 1 goal and 1 assist this season and successfully replicated his domestic form in the UEFA Champions League where he scored a goal after coming off the bench.
Hence, Liverpool should not hesitate to table a bid for him in January as the youngster has all the qualities to develop into one of the best creative midfielders in the world and he is likely to spice things up for the Reds.
