Liverpool prediction: Probable Reds XI to face Newcastle United

Liverpool will travel to Tyneside for the one last time in their successful league campaign to face Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have been dominant throughout the season and have already claimed the Premier League title. Though they have nothing to play for, the Reds would be hoping to take maximum points from the game.

On the other hand, Newcastle United will also be hoping to take 3 points from the game but the Reds should see off this game easily as they have been doing for the majority of the campaign.

Team News

Joel Matip has struggled with an ankle injury this season and is set to remain on the sidelines. Club captain Jordan Henderson will be a notable absentee as he is recovering from a knee injury.

Probable Liverpool XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Alisson Becker (GK)

The Brazilian seems to have missed out on the race for the Golden Glove as he has kept fewer clean sheets than Nick Pope and Ederson. However, he is the first-choice and is expected to retain his spot.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

The youngster inspired his side to a victory against Chelsea in midweek with a goal and an assist. He is one of the best right-backs in the league and has already provided 13 assists so far.

Joe Gomez (CB)

Despite their win against the Blues, Gomez had a night to forget as Chelsea’s 3 goals came from his side. He could lose his spot if he doesn’t get back to his best. However, he has deputized in the absence of Matip so far and is likely to continue.

Virgil van Dijk (CB)

The Netherlands international hasn’t been as dominant as he was last season. But he still remains an undisputed starter under Klopp.

Andy Robertson (LB)

Like Alexander-Arnold, Robertson has also been efficient down the flank. His contributions have made an impact on the team. He is expected to keep his place on Sunday as there is no proper backup for him.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (RCM)

Georginio Wijnaldum should be given a rest as he has featured regularly so far. The former Arsenal man should be brought back in his place in the starting XI.

Fabinho (CDM)

The Brazilian has done well so far and has claimed the spot for himself. He is expected to start and will be key in breaking the Magpies’ attack.

Curtis Jones (LCM)

The youngster has already proven his calibre on several occasions this season and a start on Sunday would be a boost to his confidence going into the new season.

Mohamed Salah (RW)

Salah is one of the most feared wingers in the league but he missed some easy chances in the last outing. However, he is an undoubted starter.

Takumi Minamino (LW)

The Japanese international needs enough game time to gel along with his teammates on the pitch. And this fixture would be a good opportunity for him to show his best.
