Liverpool Opinions: The 3 forwards that Liverpool should target in summer

Liverpool, under the able and charismatic guidance of former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp, have been transformed into one of England’s biggest clubs with some of the top talent in world football being attracted to moves to Anfield as well.

Having reached the final of the prestigious Champions League last year, they have really laid down on marker as being one of Europe’s top clubs with players like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane consistently performing up to their high standards.

The striker that Jurgen Klopp has preferred to use is Brazilian Roberto Firmino. Although he does take up the striker’s role on occasions, he mainly operates as a playmaker for the Reds while he also gets into dangerous positions.

While this works on most occasions, when it fails to pierce the opposition defence, the alternatives on the bench don’t quite look up to the standard. Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi have both been used sparingly this season and for good reason. The need for a new back up striker is clear.

Here are the 3 strikers that Liverpool should consider signing as cover for Firmino:

Wesley

This young Brazilian forward has been taking the Belgian Jupiler Pro League by storm and has really come to the stepped up to the place for Club Brugge who he joined in 2016 from Slovakian club Trencin.

He has scored 14 goals in all competitions for Brugge out of which 9 goals have come in his 27 league appearances. He played all 6 of Brugge’s Champions League and even managed to score 2 goals and this record suggests he could be a good direct alternative to Firmino.

Neal Maupay

The Brentford star has been in scintillating form this season and has belted in a whopping 20 goals from his 34 league games and also got 7 assists while making a name for himself in the English footballing scene.

With bags of potential, this striker has all the right attributes to prosper in the Premier League and what better place to develop as a player than at one of the most historic clubs in world football. With the right coaching and guidance from Klopp, he could turn into a Reds legend.

Max Kruse

This German international forward is 30 years old now but can still be a good option as a 2nd choice at Anfield as he offers a certain kind of attacking threat. With good positioning and movement, Kruse has the ability to get himself into the perfect spots in the box.
