According to a recent report by the Daily Star, European champions Liverpool are said to be one of the many clubs interested in signing German international striker Max Kruse this summer.
The veteran Bundesliga striker is fast approaching the final days of his current contract with Werder Bremen and a number of clubs are said to be keen on his services.
While Liverpool are the club being linked heavily, it has been suggested that Fenerbahce, Bayern Munich and Roma are all interested in landing Kruse this summer too. With so many of Europe’s biggest clubs said to be interested, getting a deal in place for the 31-year-old’s signature certainly won’t be a very simple process.
Liverpool have been dependant on the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for goals this season and the fact that they’re both not strikers will certainly come as a worry.
Although Roberto Firmino is often deployed in the striker’s role, his responsibilities on the pitch are completely different from that of an old-fashioned centre-forward.
The fact that Daniel Sturridge and Divovk Origi are the only remaining back-up options in attack could come to haunt them in the coming seasons.
While the latter has stepped up with many crucial goals along the way, including in their win over Everton and the Champions League finale, Sturridge has struggled to have too much of an impact is what is already a side jam-packed with talent.
The addition of a new striker to try and freshen things up in attack will certainly go a long way in helping Liverpool challenge the other top clubs to the league title next season.
Their dependence on Salah and Mane can only end badly as keeping them both fully fit and firing on all cylinders for the entirety of the league campaign will be a near-impossible task.
Max Kruse has all the right attributes to be a star Premier League striker and although he’s already 31, he does still manage to put himself about in the opposition box.
Fairly tall and strong, his presence in the box can be quite intimidating. He shows excellent composure with the ball at his feet and has the ability to finish from large distances as well.

This season, Kruse played in 32 Bundesliga games for boyhood club Werder Bremen.
His return of 11 goals and 10 assists from all the fixtures will certainly motivate Jurgen Klopp about the move further. The need for a new striker is certainly high at Anfield at this point in time and the addition of Kruse could be a step in the right direction.
