Luke Jacob Travers (born 3 September 2001) is a professional basketball player for the Perth Wildcats of the National Basketball League (NBL). He forewent college basketball in the United States to pursue a professional career in Australia, where he made his debut for the Wildcats as a development player in 2019 and won the NBL championship in 2020.
Between 2017 and 2019, he was a member of the Rockingham Flames in the State Basketball League (SBL), and he later played for the Cockburn Cougars in the West Coast Classic in 2020. In the 2022 NBA Draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected him with the 56th overall pick.
Luke Travers, a guard/forward, has a net worth of $1 million to $5 million.
Luke Travers, a second-round pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers, will return to the Perth Wildcats of the National Basketball League for the 2022-23 season for an undisclosed fee, the team announced.
Travers signed as a development player with the Perth Wildcats for the 2019-20 NBL season on August 1, 2019. His elite athleticism and ability to play multiple positions made him an appealing option for the Wildcats. He was regarded as one of Australia’s most sought-after basketball prospects, with interest from several colleges in the United States, but expressed a desire to turn professional because of a lack of motivation at school.
Travers, who will be a development player for the Wildcats in the 2020-21 NBL season, was thrust into a much larger role during the preseason, starting both of the Wildcats’ preseason games against the Illawarra Hawks. While primarily a winger, he added strength to his frame during the offseason and was promoted to starting power forward. Jarred Bairstow replaced him in the starting lineup midway through the season, and Travers later stated that he became complacent in the role and had to work his way back into starting contention.
Travers declared for the NBA draft on April 24, 2022. The Cleveland Cavaliers chose with the 56th overall pick him. He signed with the Cavaliers for the NBA Summer League in 2022.
Travers has returned to the Wildcats for the upcoming 2022-23 NBL season.
Travers was born to Karl and Sam Travers. He has an older brother as well as a sister.
