Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas will face the challenge of Spain’s Zapata Miralles in the Round of 16 at the Madrid Open
Zapata Miralles has been the surprise factor so far during this ATP season and has continued his good form in Madrid. The Spaniard reached the Semi-finals of the Argentina Open and the Rio Open earlier this year, exceeding all expectations and he seems to be on another fairytale run in Madrid. The 26-year-old began his campaign with a hard-fought win against Mackenzie McDonald and followed it up with a commendable 6-3, 6-2 victory against 19th seed Dan Evans. He then got the better of Russia’s Roman Safiullin to set up a Round of 16 clash against Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Stefanos Tsitsipas’ form coming into the match at Madrid Open
Stefanos Tsitsipas has had a frustrating season so far, failing to win any silverware despite playing some good Tennis. He began the year with a commendable runners-up finish at the Australian Open and once again lost in the final of the Barcelona Open last month. The Greek star is desperate to win a title and break the jinx for the remainder of the season.
Tsitsipas has not been at his best in Madrid but has managed to carve out results in his favour. He began the campaign with a hard-fought win against Dominic Thiem and then defeated 25th seed Sebastian Baez in another intense clash to progress to the Round of 16. Tsitsipas is certainly one of the favourites in the tournament but it remains to be seen if he can live up to expectations and clinch the title.

Head to Head and Predictions
Zapata Miralles and Tsitsipas have never played each other before on the ATP tour. This is the first professional head to head clash between the two players. Tsitsipas is the outright favourite going into this match both in terms of form and rankings. It will be a tough ask for Zapata Miralles in this encounter but he is expected to pose a tough challenge. However, we predict the Greek star to see off the Spaniard’s challenge and win comfortably in straight sets.
