Venus and Murray will take on second seeds Ram and Salisbury in the opening round of the Madrid Open
Michael Venus and Jamie Murray are an experienced duo and are coming into the tournament high on confidence after a title-winning run at the recently concluded Srpska Open. Venus and Murray are regulars on the ATP and have won two ATP titles so far this season – the Dallas Open and the Srpska Open. However, they will face the No.2 seeds in their tournament opener and that is certainly a tough ask first up for the veteran duo.
Despite the quality of their opposition, the British and Kiwi duo would draw a lot of confidence from their performance at the Srpska Open last week. They only dropped one set during their whole campaign and looked in sublime touch throughout the tournament. If Venus and Murray can bring their A-game to Madrid, they can certainly upset any opposition on their day.
Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury’s form coming into the match at Madrid Open
Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury are seasoned campaigners but they haven’t been quite up to the mark so far in 2023. They are coming into this tournament following a quarter-final exit at last week’s Barcelona Open. The British-American duo is yet to win any silverware this season and they will be desperate to turn things around in Madrid. However, they will definitely face a tough challenge from the in-form duo of Venus and Murray in the opening round.

Head to head and Predictions
Venus/Murray and Ram/Salisbury have never played each other before on the ATP tour. Although all of them are experienced doubles players, they haven’t faced each other as this particular doubles pair. Both the teams are very close to each other in terms of experience and form, making it difficult to predict the outcome of this match. We are expecting an intense contest with Ram and Salisbury eventually edging out their opponents in three sets.
