Cameron Norrie is scheduled to face China’s Zhang Zhizhen in the Round of 32 at the Madrid Open
China’s Zhang Zhizhen is not a regular in the senior ATP events but he has been particularly impressive at the Madrid Open. The Chinese player is more active in the Challenger but he has quickly adapted to the challenges and demands of the higher level.
He began his Madrid Open campaign with a comprehensive victory against Jurij Rodionov and followed it up with a major upset against No.21 seed Denis Shapovalov. Zhang is certainly a tough player to beat on his day and he will look to give it his all against a top opposition like Cameron Norrie.
Cameron Norrie had begun the year in an incredible fashion by finishing runners-up at the Argentina Open and then winning the Rio Open but his form has faded off recently.
The British star has come to Madrid after early exits in his previous three tournaments – the Barcelona Open, the Monte Carlo Masters and the Miami Open. He will look to turn things around in Madrid and he has made a decent start to the tournament by beating Yosuke Watanuki in his first encounter.
As the No.11 seed, Norrie received a ‘Bye’ in the Round of 128 and has played only one match so far in the tournament. Despite form not being on his side, Norrie has the experience and skills to beat any opponent on his day and he will certainly look to go deep into the tournament. He faces a tricky challenge in Zhang but if the World No.13 plays at his best, it will certainly be a cakewalk for him.

Head to Head and Predictions
Zhang and Norrie have never played each other before on the ATP tour. This is the first professional head to head clash between the two players. Norrie is the clear favourite going into this match both in terms of form and rankings. It will be a tough ask for Zhang in this encounter but he is expected to pose a tough challenge. However, we predict the British star to see off Zhang’s challenge and win comfortably in straight sets.
