Magda Linette: Personal Life
Linette was born on 12 February 1992 to father Tomasz Linette and mother Beata Linette in Poznan, Poland. Her father is a tennis coach while her mother is an educator. In the early stages of her career, Linette was coached by Izudin Zunic but since the beginning of 2018, Linette formed a partnership with Great Britain’s Mark Gellard.

In June 2010, Linette won her first professional tournament in Szczecin as a wildcard entrant. The following month, she finished runner-up at an ITF tournament at Torun. In August, Linette won ITF titles in Hechingen and Versmold. Linette won her fourth title of the season at the ITF event Katowice. She was on a 21-match winning streak on the ITF circuit in 2010.
In 2011, Linette represented Poland for the first time at the Fed Cup. She also made her debut in Grand Slam in the year but couldn’t get past the qualifying rounds.
After 18 months, Linette reached her first singles final in 2012 at a 10k event in Florence in May but lost to Anais Laurendon. Linette won her first doubles title at Ystad alongside Katarzyna Piter. She won her first singles title since September 2010 at a 10k event in Prague. In the latter half of 2012, Linette won three more doubles titles.
In 2014, Linette reached her first WTA doubles final in Guangzhou. She teamed up with Alize Cornet but couldn’t win the title. Linette won the WTA 125 Ningbo International Open in October 2014 and it was the biggest title of her career at that moment.
In 2015, Linette won her first Grand Slam match as she defeated compatriot Urszula Radwanska at the US Open. She also reached the finals of the Japan Open. With her fine performances in 2015, Linette broke into the top 100 of the WTA rankings.
She had to wait till 2019 to win her first WTA Tour-level title. At the Bronx Open in August, Linette achieved the feat. By reaching the second round of the US Open, Linette made it to the top 50 of the WTA rankings for the first time.
Linette won her second WTA Tour-level title at the Thailand Open in 2020. One of her shots during her second-round match against Peng Shuai in the Thailand Open was honored by the WTA with the Fan Favorite Shot of the Year.
In 2021, Linette produced her best result in Grand Slam doubles as she reached the semifinals of the French Open, partnering with Bernarda Pera.
In 2022, Linette won her second doubles title at the tour level at the Charleston Open. She is currently in the semifinals of the 2023 Australian Open and will face Aryna Sabalenka up next.
