Predicted Manchester City XI to face Leicester City in the Premier League

Manchester City suffered a shock 3-2 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace last week and lost ground on league leaders Liverpool.

The Citizens are four points adrift of Jurgen Klopp’s men at the top of the table and they will face a tough test when they make the trip to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City on Wednesday.

Leicester City upset the odds to beat Chelsea 1-0 last week and the Foxes will be looking to take advantage of City’s recent slump in form.

Team News

David Silva is back to training following his thigh injury and will be pushing for a return while Fernandinho missed the last game with a hamstring issue and is doubtful to play a part in the mid-week clash.

Benjamin Mendy and Eliquim Mangala are ruled out with long-term injuries while Vincent Kompany is also a doubt for the game on Wednesday.

Manager: Pep Guardiola

Formation: 4-3-3

Predicted XI

1. Ederson (GK)

The Brazilian wasn’t at fault for any of the goals in the last game and has always been a reliable presence between the sticks.

2. Kyle Walker (RB)

He had a horrible outing in the last game and will be expected to improve considerably for the mid-week game.

3. Nicolas Otamendi (CB)

The Argentine international was the pick of the defenders in the last game and Guardiola should continue to rely on him.

4. Aymeric Laporte (CB)

The Frenchman was hardly to blame for any of the goals against Palace and he has been a regular name in the first-team this season.

5. Fabian Delph (LB)

He tested the goalkeeper with a powerful long-range effort last week and should continue on the left-hand side of the backline in the absence of Mendy.

6. John Stones (CDM)

He looked like a fish out of water in a defensive midfield hold but he might be forced to continue there if Fernandinho doesn’t recover in time.

7. Ilkay Gundogan (RCM)

He put in the hard yards last week and scored a goal with a thumping header.

8. Bernardo Silva (LCM)

The Portuguese international wasn’t at his best in the previous outing and City will need him to come to the party in the mid-week clash.

9. Riyad Mahrez (RW)

Sterling had a poor game by his standards last week and Guardiola should turn to the Algerian to deliver the goods on Wednesday.

10. Leroy Sane (LW)

He was the pick of City’s attackers against Palace and was unlucky to have his free-kick come back off the post.

11. Sergio Aguero (ST)

Gabriel Jesus had a disappointing outing last time around and Guardiola is likely to rely on his talisman for this one.
