God of War Ragnarok Gear Changes
In light of the immense success of its predecessor and the buzz surrounding this sequel, God of War Ragnarok is destined to be one of the biggest games of 2022. As the first glimpse of the game was released, many people noted that the game looked great, but the mechanics were largely the same as the previous game. Although it is true that if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it, many have wondered what will make the difference between these two games.
It appears to be just as grand and versatile as the first game, but Kratos’ gear has been upgraded God of War Ragnarok. Game Informer had a chance to play the game for its cover story, and revealed some changes to the combat system. Players can execute a signature move based on the weapon they’re holding if they press Triangle.
As depicted by the icy Leviathan axe and the fiery Blades of Chaos, Kratos can “infuse” his weapons with ice or fire. With this move, Kratos’ weapons will freeze or burn enemies, giving him more options for weapons and weapons to use. Also available to Kratos are the Dauntless and Stonewall shields. Players are able to stun and throw enemies quickly via a “devastating smash” using the former, which is used for parrying. Kratos uses the shield to absorb blows and build kinetic energy that he can then use to blow enemies off his feet. Kratos’ shield can also become unstable, making him susceptible to other attacks as well.
More exciting combat
The already exciting combat in God of War Ragnarok will be made even more exciting and strategic with God of War Ragnarok gear. There is no word on whether Kratos will get any new weapons, but that doesn’t seem out of the question. Game Informer also confirmed it would post new footage in the coming weeks, but did not specify when.
