Why Toni Kroos can help Man City dominate world football

Manchester City have built a team for the future, one that can effectively dominate world football if and when they click into action. That has been their main issue, with the club struggling to maintain the same level of consistency as they did last season, with complacency playing a major role in the Cityzens’ pursuit of retaining their title. However, to battle that the Manchester Evening News has reported that Pep Guardiola will make a move for Real Madrid superstar Toni Kroos in summer.

Toni Kroos, 29, has been a key star in the Los Blancos’ line up since his arrival from Bayern Munich and while he’s only contributed to 69 goals in his 215 appearances, the German international has been a crucial cog in Real Madrid’s dominance over Europe. It’s been said that without the midfielder, there was little chance that Real Madrid would have any chance at winning their three consecutive Champions League trophies, which simply shows how good the World Cup winner is.

For Manchester City, however, there are few players in the world that can do what David Silva does do for them. Toni Kroos, is at the top of that list, alongside Frenkie De Jong, Isco Alarcon, Arthur and even Paul Pogba. While Bernardo Silva is slowly growing towards that, the former Monaco star needs time to truly become the next great Silva in Light Blue, and during that period of change, Manchester City needs someone to help them continue dominating the midfield.

In steps, Toni Kroos, who at 29 years old, still has at least five maybe even six great seasons in him before his levels start to deteriorate. The German is masterful with the ball and reads the game that only a few players can do, which is exactly why he would be utterly perfect for Manchester City and more so, Pep Guardiola.

However, what could put Manchester City off in their pursuit of Kroos is the fact that any move will cost upwards of a €100million, but given their war-chest, the fee would be well within their reach. But that’s only if the Manchester City board does decide that Kroos is worth spending that much on given the fact that he is already 29 years old and not getting any younger.

What will be plus point is the fact that his levels haven’t dropped yet and the way the German international is going, it could mean that Kroos could essentially play for another six or seven years before things change. For Manchester City, that’s nothing but a bonus because convincing Real Madrid to sell will easily be the biggest challenge they face.
